Instructor(s): Tim Harper, Management & Business

Did anyone anticipate that cafΓ©s and hotels would use WiFi as a competitive advantage when the Internet was developed in 1980? Students will examine the connection between innovation and industry in this course. Drawing upon disciplines such as Management and Business, Economics, Government, Law, and Information Science, students will explore Disruptive Innovation Theory; Resources, Processes and Values Theory and Value Chain Evolution Theory. Students will also engage in a service learning project that will involve analyzing and assessing the benefits and costs of real-time innovations associated with sectors such as alternative energy, campus safety, and business communications.
