Expanded virtual health and wellness options for ΢Ȧ students

November 28, 2022

Editor's note: ΢Ȧ students now have access to a diverse pool of therapists through the new  platform for up to 12 sessions per academic year. ΢Ȧ's partnership with TimelyCare officially ends on July 1, 2023.

΢Ȧ College is partnering with TimelyMD, the leading virtual health and well-being solution in higher education, to offer students free and equitable access to a range of teletherapy services through the TimelyCare platform.

TimelyCare serves as a 24/7 virtual extension of campus counseling center resources, with a goal of improving student well-being, engagement, and retention, by offering support and intervention for a wide range of common mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflicts, and stress management

Through TimelyCare on their phone or other device, students can now select from a wide-ranging menu of virtual care options from licensed counselors in all 50 states —  at no cost and without the hassle of traditional insurance. Services include:

  • TalkNow: 24/7, on-demand access to a mental health professional to talk about anything at any time. Students can connect to TalkNow within minutes to discuss any level of concern, from conflicts with roommates to more serious mental health crises.
  • Scheduled Counseling: Students can independently schedule up to 12 teletherapy appointments per academic year with a provider of their choice and can choose from a diverse and culturally informed provider network, including BIPOC providers.
  • Self-Care Content: Guided self-care content, including yoga and meditation sessions, as well as group conversations with providers on a variety of health and well-being topics.

All services are fully covered —  there is no need to use insurance or pay any type of fee. Students can access TimelyCare services 365 days a year, on or off campus, as well as during breaks and after-hours.

Students can sign up for TimelyCare by downloading the app (searchable through respective app stores) or by visiting the Counseling Center website.

“There is no greater priority than the health and safety of our students. TimelyCare’s ease of use, convenience and immediacy make it easier than ever for our students to get the help they need, when they need it,” said Associate Dean of Student Affairs for Health and Wellness Julia Routbort Baskin. “TimelyCare enhances campus resources by making care more readily available to students when they need it, reducing the stigma of mental health issues, and granting peace of mind to students and their families.”

In addition to the services available to students, TimelyCare also offers Faculty Support — a service for faculty and staff designed to equip them with information to help students who may be struggling. It’s available anytime and can be accessed by calling 833-4-TIMELY, ext. 2. As always, faculty are also welcome to contact the Counseling Center at 518-580-5555 for consultation with a clinician about students of concern. Other resources for faculty members include the Office of Academic Advising and making a report to the Student Assessment and Intervention Group (SAIG).

“Meeting the need for equitable, on-demand access to care is a critical challenge that extends beyond campus boundaries. TimelyCare allows colleges and universities like ΢Ȧ College to solve problems rather than just treat symptoms,” said Luke Hejl, TimelyMD CEO and co-founder. “Our mission at TimelyMD is to improve the health and well-being of college students by making virtual care accessible anytime, anywhere. Through TimelyCare, we are proud to deliver best-in-class health and well-being solutions to help students thrive.”

TimelyCare is part of a suite of services available to students through the ΢Ȧ College Counseling Center.

TimelyCare is an important addition to ΢Ȧ's numerous other offerings including in-person 1:1 counseling, peer groups, tailored referrals and, as always, emergency and on-call services.
