Activities

Greg Pfitzer, Douglas Family Professor in American Culture and professor of American Studies, led a discussion following the Feb. 17 screening of Hyde Park on the Hudson at the Saratoga Film Forum. Pfitzer discussed the Hudson Valley world of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, portrayed in the movie by Bill Murray.

Shirley Smith, associate professor of Italian, gave a talk titled “Italians in China: 1900-1947” Feb. 22 at Suffolk University. Smith drew on scholarship from her recently published book Imperial Designs: Italians in China, 1900-1947 for the talk, which was sponsored by the Rosenberg Institute for East Asian Studies at Suffolk.

Jörg Bibow, associate professor of economics, is the author of “To make or break the euro: Germany’s euro trilemma” published Feb. 24 in .

Victor Cahn, professor of English, is the co-author (with his brother Steven M. Cahn) of an essay titled “Polishing Your Prose” published Feb. 18 in The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Gordon Thompson, professor of music, contributed a new entry to his Oxford University Press blog titled “.” The essay describes the important role that publishing played in the rise of that band.
