Ȧ Spotlight: Anita Miczek
Anita Miczek, assistant to the director of sponsored research, is retiring after 35 years.
Miczek said that when her journey at Ȧ began, she saw it as an opportunity to utilize her office skills. Little did she know it would become a long-term career highlighted by personal relationships, professional accomplishments, and twice receiving the President’s Award.
Of her many fond memories of her time at Ȧ, Miczek said one of her favorites is entertaining students and faculty at an annual picnic. Serving a home-cooked meal alongside a few competitive games of Frisbee or horseshoes was her favorite way to celebrate a successful year.
Miczek said the things she will miss most have one thing in common: Other people’s kindness. This came in many ways, she said, from a congenial atmosphere when she arrived every morning to daily greetings from her colleagues Bill Tomlinson and Mary Hoehn.
Miczek offered her friends at Ȧ some advice: “Always treat people with respect and remember to thank others for a job well done. A little word of thanks goes a long way.”
