Faculty-Staff Achievements
Veena Chandra, music instructor, received an Arts in Education Award supporting a residency in North Colonie schools and a NewMusic USA grant for a collaborative project with recording artist Taina Asili.
Michael Emery, senior artist-in-residence, is currently playing a run of “Candide” at the Varna International Music Academy in Bulgaria.
Paul Green, music lecturer, released a new jazz-Klezmer CD, “A Bissel Rhythm,” with his band
Two Worlds, recently celebrated by an event at Caffe Lena.
Stephen Ives, associate professor of health and human physiological sciences, Robert Restaino, visiting assistant professor, and students Alexs Matias ’18, Isabelle Albin ’18
and Leah Glickman ’18 presented abstracts at the . Additionally, Ives presented work with Gaia Giuriato, who was a visiting researcher
from the University of Verona, Italy, in summer 2018.
Genna Kim, choral director and lecturer, is currently participating as a conducting fellow
at the Mostly Modern Festival.
Maryuri Roca, teaching professor of chemistry, published an article in the American Journal on
Nanomaterials. “” is co-authored by undergraduate students Hannah Skipper ’17 and Jessica Ndryanasi
’20.
Sylvia Stoner-Hawkins, artist-in-residence, continues to bring performances of “” to local and national venues, including to The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls as
part of the de Blasiis series. Two of her students, Nick Greer and Thabi Khumalo,
sang in the regional NATS competition and placed in their respective vocal divisions,
earning invitations to compete nationally.
