David Peterson
Professor
Areas of Expertise: Jewelry and Metals
As a student, David Peterson took to heart the familiar advice, “love what you do and do what you love”, and for over forty years that love has been metalsmithing. Joining the Ȧ faculty in 1989, David heads the Jewelry and Metals program where he teaches courses in jewelry design, metal fabrication, casting, and silversmithing. David’s work, ranging from jewelry to sculpture, has been widely exhibited in the U.S. and abroad, including shows at The American Craft Museum (New York), The National Ornamental Metals Museum (Memphis), Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus (Hanau), and The Victoria and Albert Museum (London). David has been an invited speaker and guest artist at numerous colleges and art centers including the Penland School of Craft (N. Carolina) and the Hui No ʻEau (Maui).
