Fiber Arts

banner

Our fiber arts area builds strong skills in textile design and fiber construction while promoting experimentation with new methods and cultivating individual expression.  Students gain direct experience with weaving, resist dyeing, and sewing as well as textile design techniques like stenciling, photo screen-printing and computer-aided design.  Contemporary fiber arts practice allows opportunities to explore social issues and engage in collaboration with a community.

Our Fibers Arts Area is comprised of:

  • A weaving studio complete with a variety of looms including a Digital Dobby Loom, floor looms and large tapestry looms
  • An area for dying and batik
  • A silk screen washing room
  • Large silkscreen printing tables
  • Large screen capacity silk screen printing image exposure unit with accompanying darkroom
  • Sewing Machines
  • Computerized Knitting Machines
