Corey R. Freeman-Gallant
Associate Dean of the Faculty

As Associate Dean of the Faculty, Professor Freeman-Gallant works with the student-facing offices in Academic Affairs to support the implementation of ΞΆΓάȦ’s academic program, address questions about academic policy, and promote the achievement of students in the classroom and beyond.  He acts as the Conduct Administrator for violations of the academic Honor Code, and he oversees credit-bearing internships, student opportunity funds, and Dean’s List honors. Professor Freeman-Gallant joined the Biology department in 1997 after obtaining his PhD in evolutionary ecology from Cornell University. His research and teaching interests include ornithology, organismal biology, and evolution; a list of publications can be found here.

Marla Melito 
Student Academic Development Coordinator & Associate Director, First-Year Experience

In her role as Student Academic Development Coordinator for the Offfice of Student Academic Affairs, Marla works with students seeking national merit scholarships and fellowships throughout the application process. She also works with ΞΆΓάΘ¦'s SEE-Beyond award.  Marla has an M.F.A. in creative writing and an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from George Mason University.  She is a certified Co-Active Professional Coach (CPCC), Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation,  and member of the International Coaching Federation. 

Prior to working at ΞΆΓάΘ¦, she was a visiting assistant professor of English and associate director of Fall for the Book at George Mason University, served as a writer-in–residence for the DC Creative Writing Workshop and DC WritersCorps, and held a variety of jobs in international public health. Her poems and essays have appeared in Fifth Gear, Phoebe, Hartskill Review, Gargoyle, the Greensboro Review, and the Roanoke Review. She is the author of a chapbook (The Doppler Effect, Finishing Line Press).

Terri Mariani
Student Academic Affairs Coordinator

Terri Mariani has been with ΞΆΓάΘ¦ College since 2004. She joined Student Academic Affairs in 2023 after serving in the Dean of Faculty’s Office for two years. In the Dean’s office, she provided managerial and administrative support for daily operations while also working closely with Winston Grady-Willis and Beck Krefting on the Mellon Grant for Africana Studies and CLTL. Before joining the Dean’s office, Terri was the Student Employment Coordinator in Dining Services and, for 13 years, she served in Human Resources, where she was the Training Coordinator overseeing professional development opportunities. Terri has been involved in the Friendship Family program at ΞΆΓάΘ¦ since its beginning.  When Terri is on her own time, she enjoys gardening, and adventurous exploits such at zip lining, tree top obstacle courses and white water rafting with her family. In OSAA, Terri coordinates Student Opportunity Funds, Internships for Credit, and Honors Convocation, amongst other responsibilities.
